Family - Movie Date
last month, my sweet mother got tickets for a movie about the apostle Paul. a movie to watch during easter. i was excited mainly because i love going to the cinema which is a rare occasion. in total i think I've gone about eight times 😐 nine including this one. the first time ever was a Pinocchio movie. it was in French and i was a small human.
this movie was showing on the Saturday of easter at 6pm. we were at home and mother had left the house to ran errands. father must have been resting or also running errands. my sister, my brothers and i were lounging.
in the afternoon, sister went to the shower to wash her hair plus wash up. do you even want to know the time she took in there? no you don't. it was around 4pm when mother walked in and her first words as she put her foot into the house were "I hope mko tayari (i hope you're ready)" and whenever she says those words, you had better hurry.
we live in the end of the world meaning we're far from everything. going places is like a road trip. we have daily road trips yay. it's 4pm and we should be at the cinema by 6pm. oh gosh. i was hoping so hard that the roads would be clear. aside from that worry, i hadn't showered yet and there were two brothers who wanted to shower😒 i should now admit that i had no choice but to skip my shower time. (i am guilty for taking long as well)
after all the rushing through the house and out, the gods heard my prayers and the roads were clear. we even reached before time and we should be given gold for that, since it's actually a big achievement. we were at the counter buying popcorn and other movie essentials. my dad was the buyer and he bought popcorn for three, water, chocolate for him and my mum. it was quickly noted that the chocolate bars were only two. in this family, when a treat is purchased for one or two people, excluding the rest, it shall cause a mini drama until it's shared out. my dad then bought four more. he also got us drinks, sprite.

my small brother noticed that his was soda moto and not soda baridi like the rest and he began squeezing tears from his big eyes. with a croaky voice he said something along the lines of "why is mine not cold, i want a cold one aaaaaah i want a cold one. why is mine warm? me i don't like warm sprite. why i always get warm soda" seeing that no one was paying attention, he began trying to negotiate with my sister, my brother and i on how we can exchange drinks. "can we exchange please?", he asked in his usual "sad" negotiation voice. with straight faces and raised eyebrows, we all looked at him and said "nope". of course he started whining.

my mother's attention was drawn to this and in her mother-giving-a-warning-voice, she told him that he'll get a cold and when he does, he shouldn't say a thing because he's been warned. i looked at this boy and told him "when a mother gives a warning, you had better listen because the thing she's has warned against, may come true and it doesn't matter if it takes 10 years" small brother ended up getting a cold sprite and suddenly his voice was as clear as day. the freshly squeezed tears had evaporated as quickly as they came. i noticed that some people around us had been watching all this and they couldn't help but giggle. you're welcome.

on to the movie. as we were in line to get into the cinema, the small brother's bladder suddenly came to life. he kept repeating how much he needed to pee and we were all like "noooooo". we got our seats and my dad saved the day and took him to the gents. no one else really wanted to get up again and walk to the washrooms. sorry brother. he came back relieved and he said "you guys, pray for me not to feel like peeing again." i giggled.
the family movie date was a success and i hope for more of such days🎥
