Let your mind wander

THE WONDERS OF READING (specifically fiction)

Reading. Reading is fun. I like to think of it as a mind vacation. I wonder who started writing stories for people to read. I wonder how someone can create a whole new reality through words. I would like to appreciate all the writers who make a reader’s mind wander.

Whenever I read, I get drawn into that specific world for the period of time that I spend reading. The feeling of snapping back into reality is like a big slap across the face. It is worse when I finish a book. It feels like I have no choice but to leave that place I just got comfortable living in. I have to leave behind the people, the places, the sights and sounds; it feels like being forced to leave my very home.

For a moment it feels devastating and I am left wondering “what next?” For a moment it feels like my life has finally come to an end, quite a drastic sudden end. It feels like it is over until I pick up another book and I am slowly drawn into that reality for the moment. The cycle goes on and on.

For me, reading is a way to escape this reality just for a moment. Of course I have to keep up with what this life has to offer, but that short mind vacation is priceless and it cannot be replaced by any feeling. It is on its own, a luxury.

Keep reading books and keep learning new things. Have an open mind to whatever you set your eyes on and be respectful to the things you do not accept but are of value to others.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go”- Dr. Seuss
